IN THE GARDEN
Subsequent to eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve realised that they were naked. They made themselves loincloths by sewing together fig leaves. Then we are told that they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid themselves. The Lord God called to the man and said: “Where are you?” And the man answered:
“I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”” Genesis 3,10
ON THE CROSS
The meaning of the death of Christ the Last Adam (1 Cor. 15,45), was to restore man without fear to the presence of God.
This was accomplished through his atoning death on the Cross.
We learn from Hebrews:
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.” Hebrews 2,14-15
And John writes:
“Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.””
John 12,31-32
The prince of this world, the devil, is put out of office, put out of authority. He no longer controls death. He is no longer ruler!
IN THE FATHER´S PRESENCE
When we receive Christ as Saviour, neither sin nor fear, need keep us from the presence of God.
For if we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John. 2,1). When we confess our sins, he (Father) is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John. 1,9).
It really is the will of the Father that we believe this; that we know that we are truly loved and accepted – that our sins are dealt with by the blood of the lamb.
AS WE GROW TOGETHER
It really is Father’s will that we now enjoy his presence – without fear – every day! We need not hide from him!
The only fear we are to have of our Father now, is godly fear; that is reverence!
Fear of judgement, we need not have! It hinders all that God would do in us and through us.
For:
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” 1 John 4,18
